Jolly Good Tours
By Pamela & Gregg White
We operate our England tours & Ireland tours from Loveland, Colorado, USA & Cornwall, England. We are an Anglo-American LLC. company. We specialize in fully guided, leisurely coach tours of Ireland, England, Scotland & Wales for Americans, South Africans, Canadians, Kiwis, & Aussies. Anybody is welcome on our English speaking tours of course. That is all we do – tours of Ireland & Great Britain.
It is scary to think about it but between us we have over 51 years experience in the travel business specializing in British Isles touring. I am from London and have conducted over 460 tours since 1983 so far having escorted over 14,000 overseas visitors around Ireland & Great Britain. Pamela, from Colorado, spent 15 years as a Colorado travel agent & another 15 years as a well traveled resident & incoming tours specialist in England & Scotland. We are experts in touring & traveling the British Isles. Our tours are designed for the 50+ age group but really they are perfect for all ages from 12 upwards as there is lots of living history & other learning experiences that our younger Tour Buddies find relevant to high school & college. It is not just history but lots of fun too. Unfortunately we don’t accept kids under 12 as generally coach touring is a bit boring at that age.
We do FREE presentations.
We do FREE presentations for groups. They are not sales pitches but are interesting & entertaining (Usually!). So if you have a group and would like something different for half-an-hour or so just email gregg@jollygoodtours.com. Excerpts from 2 recent presentations can be found by clicking on the 2 images to the right (see captions). We had such a good time with the Maroon Bells Morris Dancing team from Berthoud, CO. that we are including our clip of them dancing so click on the 3 images to the right for the clips.
We are so anxious …..
for you you to have a great time in Ireland & Great Britain that we are more than happy to give free advice to independent travelers after all not everybody wants to go with a group. Here is a quote from an email sent to us by one such independent traveler, traveling USA – London – Shannon …. “WOW!!!! Thank you soooo much for your insight and suggestions, you guys are amazing! I look forward to meeting you at the next meet up!” Thanks, K*******
So not everybody wants to do a tour! Check out our snippet website www.ireland-britain-tours.com for our travel tips etc.. We even advise which tour operator to use if none of our tours fit your schedule! Basically there is only one we are prepared to recommend. Is that a first, a company recommending one of its competitors? That is how keen we are for you to have a good time in Ireland, England, Scotland & Wales.
Don’t want to do a tour? Well don’t miss this.
because this is our philosophy which makes Jolly Good Tours ideal for someone who hates the idea of doing a tour. No really it does!
If you rent a car and drive yourself around it is hassle especially as we drive ‘on the wrong side of the road’ for most people. You can’t enjoy a pint of Guinness or Boddies because you’re driving and you can’t see over those 350,000 miles of infernal hedgerows (But necessary!) we have in Ireland & England. Check out the ‘Big Advantages‘ page to find out why our hedgerows will spoil your view much of the time. You really do miss so much. It is much easier to use public transport in Ireland & Great Britain which means you travel from A to B without any info. on the way apart from chatty cab drivers. That is pretty much what we do at Jolly Good Tours, take you from A to B but with a stack of info. on the way. The classic difference between us and most other tour operators is that we arrive at our end of day destinations mid-afternoon rather than late afternoon/early evening on many days giving you plenty of free time and your own space. On our SPACE-BUS tours there is more space because we only carry 28 people instead of the usual 44-53 in the same size bus. By now you get the picture ……. more space, more time and of course NEVER ANY EXTRA SIDE TRIPS SELLING!
ECO-FRIENDLY.
Saving the planet has become a bit of a sales gimmick with many companies! We like to think we do our bit because we use scheduled city bus tours in London & Dublin, scheduled train services from Bristol etc. to London and the Heathrow & Gatwick scheduled express trains instead of hired in buses. In addition we love to use Premier Inns which is probably the most eco-conscious hotel chain on earth! In London we use the London Underground to get around even as a group.
WE ONLY DO 10 TOURS A YEAR.
Even though we only do a maximum of 10 tours a year, less in 2012 due to the London Olympics, we can still offer highly competitive tour prices without bombarding you with optional extra trips plus we guarantee those little extras like the airport transfers. Ultimately we want you to come back to Ireland, Scotland, Wales & England sometime because it would take half lifetime to see it all properly! Your photos of Westminster Abbey & Edinburgh Castle traveling with Jolly Good Tours will be pretty much like the photos taken by somebody traveling with another tour operator. It is what happens between Edinburgh Castle & Westminster Abbey that counts. That’s where we come in!
Finally, to stand on the very stones in Plymouth, Devon that the Pilgrim Fathers walked on as they boarded the Mayflower in 1620 is awesome! It makes the hairs on you neck stand on end. What about standing on the very spot where Joss Merlyn was murdered in Jamaica Inn on bleak Bodmin Moor? Gruesome! What about following the country lane where Mary Queen of Scots made her doomed dash for freedom the night she escaped from Loch Leven Castle? Enjoy all that history but Jolly Good Tours also brings to life towns, cities & buildings that you will have seen over the decades in Irish & British TV programs & movies, like Jamaica Inn, Rob Roy, Harry Potter, Ballykissangel, Father Ted, Brideshead Revisted, All Creatures Great & Small, Downton Abbey etc.. I remember the old days when you would arrive at an ancient building and see a plaque on the wall …. ‘King Charles 1st slept here.’ Nowadays the plaques usually say ‘Harry Potter slept here’!
Our favorite literary quote which you can find elsewhere on this website is ‘You see but you do not observe Watson.’ A quote from Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes story ‘A Scandal in Bohemia’. Holmes criticizes Dr. Watson for not digesting the full visual facts. That is something which is very easy to do on most guided tours due to the speed of the tours and the oftentimes overextended itineraries.
We think we do it right because ……….
We are with you all the way from when you arrive at the arrival airport to when you leave to go home!
Looking forward to seeing you for a fun time!
Gregg,
Co-owner/Director, Jolly Good Tours.

Occasionally even with just 30 people or less our Tour Buddies do get lost. Here is one going totally the wrong way up ancient Stonegate in York finally retrieved by the Tour Director in the distance. Image submitted by his wife who was going the right way. I promised Bill from Colorado I wouldn’t mention his name so I won’t.
